Disney’s Prime Time Cafe – Moma’s Pot Roast
Young and old alike, the 50’s Prime Time Café is a memory maker! When you enter into the retro style restaurant at Hollywood Studio, Momma is in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Your cousin (waiter) takes you to your Formica table where black and white clips play on the T.V.
Remember to keep your elbows off the table and your napkin in your lap or you will get a lesson in etiquette from your cousin. Punishments can be doled out for misbehaving. Once my nephew and his father had to stand up and preform “I’m a Little tea pot” for everyone’s delight. The cousins don’t like tattle tales and you will get shamed. I’ve even seen them take your fork and feed you the green beans that you haven’t touched. It’s all in fun of course and if you clean your plate they make a smiley face on it show everyone what a good job you did!
Momma’s Pot Roast
5 lb top or bottom round roast
1 onion (diced)
1 Garlic Clove – Chopped
2 carrots (Peeled and diced)
1 stack celery (diced)
Salt and pepper to taste
7 ½ cups beef bouillon
¼ cup olive oil
Preheat oven to 350. Heat the oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Season meat with salt and pepper. Brown the meat on all sides and remove the meat to a roasting pan.
Sauté the diced vegetables, onions and garlic until golden brown, and add to the roasting pan. Pour the beef bouillon into the pan to lift off all the caramelized vegetables and beef. Pour liquid over the roast and cover. Cook 30 – 45 minutes per pound. Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes.
