Is Tomorrowland a land of the past? Or does Dsney’s much anticipated Star Wars Land more closely represent our vision for the future?
It’s important to keep things in perspective when comparing the Disney iconic landmark with the (in progress of being built) new Star Wars Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These are two completely different visions separated by about 60 years.
The two Futures can certainly coexist and provide two totally different yet satisfying immersion experiences that engage the traveler in different ways. Tommorowland takes us back the future in the spirit of Jules Verne and Issac Asimov and how they shaped our vision of what the future should or will look like. This old future experience in today’s terms is more of a Futuristic whimsical fantasy of yesteryear.
With the evolution of CGI and human expectations, coupled with darker extremism, Star Wars Land comes along with perfect timing to scratch that itch. Total immersion in a land that we’ve come to know over the past 10 years is a welcome change and a necessary one to compete with the likes of the Harry Potter experience at Universal Studios.
While these Disney “Lands” will offer two completely different, yet somewhat the same, experiences…..it’s a win win for Disney and Disney time travelers alike!
